Horizontal question

How many are there in the set ? and are there any HOF's included in these ?

I just picked these up and would like to work on getting all of them in the horizontal position.

The Pelty and Pattee are 150 series only cards, thus they command a higher price than the regular horizontals. I have found the Murphy to be the most common. If you wait them out you can get them at reasonable prices.

I think there are 6 total in the T206 set, someone on ebay had all 6 in 1 auction last week or so, but I was outbid...I have the Mullin (detroit) throwing and the Jack Powell (st. louis) throwing, I like them, they're different

It's an interesting question whether Jack Dunn and Becker should be considered horizontal cards. Whether you think so sort of depends on how you squint at them. I had actually never thought of Becker as horizontal but I can now see why you might.

My friend Mike Peich explained to me once why he didn't think Dunn was horizontal, but as I look at the card now, I can't remember what the explanation was. Does Mike or anyone else want to weigh in?

I can see an argument for the Dunn card being included as a horizontal pose. However the Becker still doesn't look right when held horizontally. The 6 cards already recognized as horizontals all have a background that is distinctly horizontal. That may be one reason that the Dunn and Becker are left off of the list.

Dunn could be laying out for a diving catch on his card, but I don't see Becker in the same way. He is clearly reaching up for a catch, and not diving to the side.

Another similarity between the 6 included on the list is that all the player's torsos are clearly positioned on the horizontal side of the card. There is no question as to how to hold the card when viewing it. However, the Becker and Dunn torsos go off the corner of the card. Without the advantage of the backround horizon line, I feel that these two must remain off any official list.

Just my opinion....anyone else?

The other horizontal cards all have a scenic background. They are all unambiguously horizontal.

Dunn was a manager at the time of his T-206. Can't imagine that he laid out for many balls in a full horizontal stretch. More likely that he reached up while posing for a picture.

For the t206 set, they took whatever photos they already had even if the photos were old. They did not take new photos of the players for inclusion in the set. Here's the same card rotated 90 degrees. There's no way anybody could pose this way for a photo.

I don't see the Dunn as being that play at all...his positioning is wrong. Look at the card as a horizontal and everything seems to be in the right place.

Love that sequence of photos every time i see them. Even there Mays body position was different, AND Dunn was no Willie Mays, especially since he was mainly a pitcher.
