M116 population survey beginning

Hi folks,

I've put out feelers on this before in an unsystematic fashion, but this time I'd like to do it right.

As part of Bob's and my long-range project on M116 Sporting Life, I would like to do a population survey like the one I did for T207. I'm not convinced the survey will yield the startling results that one did, but it will allow us to test some of our theories about scarcities and back variations.

It doesn't matter how few cards you have-- every piece of info helps a lot!

If you'd like to participate, here's what we need:

-- a list of all your M116 cards (if you are close to a complete set, send your wantlist instead, but please do answer the follow-up questions below).

The list should indicate:

-- which cards in Series 1 and 2 you have with blue backgrounds, and which with pastel backgrounds. For your reference a list of the cards in these series is attached below.

-- which cards in Series 3 have black ink on the back, and which have blue ink. Series 3 list below.

-- which cards you have with the "300 subjects" back. An image of this back is attached below

C'mon now.....have I ever got upset at folks trying to do good for the hobby? You do more than most and I for one appreciate it (as many others do also). Instead of bumps Tim,why not put interesting facts about the players in the set like did you know Bill Bradley once was a NJ senator despite the fact he passed away 30 years prior?

Another one,while growing up in Govans,Maryland Nick Maddox never dreamed he would throw a no-hitter in his 3rd career start,in all of his dreams his no-hitter came in his first career start and then he was elected president the following day

I wish I could say that I was so busy cataloging all the contributions of info that I had no time for Interesting Facts.

But that's not the reason..........

Basically it's because I don't want this thread to become a general discussion of the set (or anything else), so that people aren't distracted from the simple but persistent request that they FORK OVER their holdings!!

Feel free to start another M116 thread with fun facts, however.

One thing Tim and I are noticing from the info I collected back in February and what we are getting now is that no one seems to be collecting the complete set (to our knowledge)except Tim and I and maybe 2 or 3 others. A couple of you emailed me that you have completed it a while ago but everyone else out there has a few cards from their favorite team or a handful of Hall of Famers. I don't think anyone has a clue how really rare some of these cards are.

We've been surprised at how few cards we've been able to compile so far. Where are those larger holdings?
