I was reading an old catalog recently and saw Mastro sold an orange E94 Cobby, about 6 yrs ago, in very high grade...maybe a 6-7.....don't know what it went for though.....probably about 10% of what it would be worth today....regards

So that's 3 oranges, wish someone out there would post scans if they have any others. As far as I know, no duplicate of any player exists in the orange variation.

The orange Cobb in Mastro 2001 was a PSA 8 I believe, and sold for $18,750 not including juice.

I stand corrected...it was a higher grade than I thought....the exact grade wasn't really my point...it was more to the point that there was at least one Cobby-orange...great looking card....

He and I were discussing the PSA 7 Cobb Daniels sold through Mastro the other day. It was a PSA 7 - I just cannot remember if it was orange or not - thought it was. That wasn't one he had me to sell for him, so I don't know the color for sure.

Nice card Paul! Ok, now we have 4 oranges officially accounted for. Any more out there? I seem to recall a Jennings and an Evers but am not positive.

And looking at the condition of all the cards shown and mentioned/remembered, you would certainly have to think they all came from the one sheet cut up in more recent years.

Leon, I think Rob was kidding. The E93, E94 and E98 Cobb share the same pose, but they can be distinguished according to how much of the torso is showing.

The card you have is a E94, and I believe it was sold in Mastro a few years ago.

The E93 Cobb uses the same photo as E94 but shows more below the waistline. The orange is different too. That E94 is spectacular!

So now we are at 5 with the Cobb. Still no duplication of players so I guess the "one orange sheet" theory may be in play although it seems like there would be multiples on a sheet (?) I don't know, I have never seen an uncut E94 sheet. Has anyone? I've seen most of the other "mainsteam" caramel card sets having an uncut sheet or two but never E94...

The "problem" with e94s and e98s is that the quality control was apparently pretty good. I don't recall ever seeing a miscut example that reveals whether or not each player was printed together on the same sheet or if one player was printed vertically.

Do you have an e94 or e98 that has a name on the top or one that shows a bit of the color of the next card on the right or left?

I think Bruce recently sold an e98 common that has a misaligned back, but not front. That's no help!

Rob- I think you are right on the money regarding the quality control. I have never, ever seen an E94 which is miscut and shows another player's name at the top or one which shows the color of the previous or next card on the left or right. There are a lot of diamond cuts in the E98 set but not many in the E94 set.
