What is up with Buck Weaver's cap?

http://legendaryauctions.com/LotDeta...100&category=1 Why would he be wearing a cap full of holes? Lucky? By the way...they did Buck a favor when choosing Cusack to play him in Eight Men Out. A face made for radio, that Buck! Coming from one who also wasn't blessed with hollywood good looks.
