| Trophies? worth repairing?

If you won an auction item, of a gold glove, or a trophy of a pro-player, and it had damage...would it increase value to have it slightly repaired ( broken off peice, scratches...etc..) Thanks! |

Yes... provided the repair was well executed. If it's an obvious or poorly done repair, it might not increase the value much. But if it's well done, it should help a lot. Many collectores buy vintage trophies for their aesthetic value, and to replace a missing bat, glove, arm, etc is usually a no-brainer. What you must determine is whether the cost of the repair will exceed the increased value of the trophy. If the trophy is a valuable piece of $300 (or more), I would say "yes". If under $300, the repair process may not be worth your time and trouble. Hope this is helpful, Mark Last edited by perezfan; 05-10-2010 at 12:28 PM. |
