			Hi guys,

Thought this one might be of interest to fellow net54 members: http://thenewyorkclipper.com/a-myste...aseball-badge/ Hope I'm not offending anyone by posting a link to my blog [which I just happened to start writing a couple of days ago] I'm still learning the art of blogging so please excuse this rookie writer's shameless plug.

That's good research Jimmy. I never paid much attention to that pin but now that I look at it, it looks to be made later than the 1860's. But I'm not an expert, just saying.

That's the kind of ego boost I needed to keep on writing. I was ready to quit after 3 days with no feedback ![]() Feel free to share my 'articles' next time you feel something I write is relevant to forum readers as it felt cheap doing it myself. You have forum owner's permission [I think]

John's a pretty knowledgeable fellow and has probably seen and read them all by now, so that was really gratifying.

Maybe there was an amateur club in Greenwich named Excelsior at the time but I think the 'inventor' just used that name for the original design considering it was a very common/popular name for clubs (since the 1860s.) I haven't seen another one or didn't find any kind of advertisement while writing the post, so I'm thinking this was some kind of proof piece that originated from Mr. Child himself.
