I think it depends on what the buyer is looking for. Some might want a HOF year inscribed so that inscription by Maz might be a negative to them so they would not buy it at all. Some people, as Manny commented, think the more writing the better it is. Others don't. Personally, I would get a ball inscribed if I was interested in collecting it that way, not based on the prospect of a higher resale price because of the inscriptions. Additionally, the cost of the inscriptions for some players nowadays make are higher than the premium you are likely to be able sell them for.
