I have learned something...
For decades, ever since i was a kid, I was always under the impression that when Lou Gehrig benched himself on May 2, 1939, he NEVER played baseball again.
It was just recently, on this very forum, that I learned Lou Gehrig played three innings of a Yankees exhibition game on June 12, 1939! Of course, this was the last time Lou played, but I was more than stunned to find this out.
