Who cares?
Should managers make in game decisions to create save opportunities for a favored “closer”? Blown saves are tracked and are probably more significant in evaluating “closers” than the total number of saves, which in part is determined by the manager. This logically leads to another question regarding the Hold. Why are all bullpen pitchers not evaluated on the basis of Blown Holds? After all, blown saves are merely a subset of blown holds. Perhaps somewhere blown holds are tracked, but I haven’t seen it. ![]()
