why not? I'm sure some would disagree, but as a pin guy I would put that in the "no big deal one way or the other" category. What I'm not crazy about is taking an old pin and adding newer ribbons and other items to make it something it never was. I'm a big fan of vintage pins with great hanging stuff that were sold that way originally, and avoid the newly created varieties like the plague. I'm guessing there are many newbie pin collectors who can't tell the difference, and it strikes me as an attempt to deceive to at least some extent on the part of those dealers who do that.
