I have a nice small (yet growing) collection of vintage cards but like some of the "shiny crap." To be specific, I collect Albert Pujols cards that have the vintage look to them. Its nice how Topps has sets like Topps Heritage, Bowman Heritage, Allen & Ginter, and Turkey Red. Their T206 and T205 sets they released a couple years ago did well. However, I regard 100% of the new stuff as grossly overpriced. I don't spend more than $5-$10 bucks for some of these Pujols cards but for people to care that a card is serial numbered, or some gold refractor and crap like that is ludicrous. I also think that the cards that should get graded are the vintage cards. Its pretty obvious that the new stuff is mint, but to see such a difference between an 8, 9, or 10 graded shiny card is crazy. But, if there's a market for it, why not do it...I'll stick with the good stuff. |
