Barry, I believe the Coney Island line is elevated. Then again, the artist may have adlib'd the backgrounds as some of the other 1953 Topps Dodgers had TREES and we know that ain't right

Dennis, I suppose all the major city planners decided to paint these obtrusive iron structures green, so the populous wouldn't notice

I think it is the stands as Barry suggested. Can barely make out the same design in this '53;
