I have always found it harder to pick up the Goudey hall of famers in nicer mid grades. The cards aren't easy to find in any regard. I amassed a decent T206 HOF collection in a few months (only missing Cobb and the crazy expensive Plank and Wagner) in low grades but nice eye appeal, whereas it took me literally a few years to amass all the Goudey Hofers (exc. Ruth and Gehrig). I didn't see a decent Cuyler, Grove, or Waner for what seemed like a year on ebay when I was collecting these and perhaps the one time I did I was unbelievably outbid.
The set is extremely undervalued, however I have noticed price increases as of late on ebay. Anybody who says this set isn't rare will have a tough go when putting the HOFers together unless they possess an extensive pocket book. |
