Default Why the Curve?

So, I have been thinking about this for a long time now!

Actually, the entire time I owned this particle card(Sold it because I couldn't eat the card & I Really Hope that the New Owner doesn't mind me using the Scan ;-)
& now I'm finally asking the Question...

So, "Why is there a Curve in the printing process?"

I realize that it probably can only be explained by one of you fine Deadball Card Freaks(& I mean this with my utmost admiration)... oR just the most reasonable of answers by one of you gentlemen who have studied the T206 printing process with a Grand Passion.

"Thanks in AdVance"
