same happened to me. I sold a brand new pilot light (for A Furnace) still in package to a guy on ebay, they guy had it a month said he hooked it up and it worked for a couple days...
I told him if he wasn't a professional then if he wired it wrong then it could greatly affect how it runs. he tried to get his money back but PayPal sided with me since he most likely wired the item up wrong.
