Ty, you mentioned Motley.... I don't know the "why", but when I look at 48 Bowman, I only see NFL players. 48 Leaf has a mix of NFL players and college players. And 49 Leaf has only NFL players. We never see AAFC (46-49) players in the mainstream sets. It isn't until the leagues merge and the Browns, 49ers, and Colts are absorbed into the NFL that we see cards of Marion Motley, Joe Perry, Y.A. Tittle, etc. as part of the 50 Bowman set. I've asked about this before, and it doesn't seem like there is a lot to collect when it comes to the AAFC. Definitely programs is one thing. I was always disappointed that we never got a card of Spec Sanders. He had a heck of a year in 47. |
