It was my fault of course. I didn't complain to the seller, just learned my lesson and sold it a couple years ago for about a hundred dollar loss. The education was well worth it.

So... don't feel too bad, you have a nice display piece, and it's your hobby. Some people have hobbies like going on cruises, or hitting the casinos, where they might spend a few thousand a year and justify it as "entertainment." And that's fine, but it sounds like your hobby has been basically dollar-neutral, so that puts you way ahead.

I have a similar story with regards to a Jackie Robinson card I purchased when I first joined this site. I noticed it on E-Bay with a few minutes remaining and in my haste I bid on it as I seen a low offer of around $10 dollars or so.
I quickly read the description (not all of it) and ended up winning it, which I thought was a great P/U.

After I won it, I read further and realized it was 1 of 200 printed in 2010!

The original description/ad was definitely deceptive but further down the ad, it was right there and was totally, 100% my fault for not noticing it.

Like, Leon mentioned, if you are not making mistakes, you are not learning.
