That image of Roush (in an edited version) appeared in a number of newspapers in 1915, including the Kingston Daily Freeman (June 16th), the Dakota County Herald (June 17th), the St. Joseph Observer (June 19th), and the Chickasha Daily Express (July 1st), to name a few that come up in searches. Your Type 1 photo is a big improvement over the newsprint image:
