Welcome back to this neck of the collecting wood (cardboard being just another tree product). Here are a couple of great sites for reference on PreWW2 cards:
http://www.oldcardboard.com/ https://prewarcards.com/ And for the most in depth coverage of many different issues of the PreWW2 era, Lew Lipset's Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards (if you check around you should be able to find the reprint that includes all 3 Volumes in one) is still, after 35 years, a relevant old school resource.
