I'm always surprised when veteran T206 collectors compare the printing and distribution of them to sets like Topps, Bowman, Goudey, Leaf etc...
Unlike those sets they were an advertising premium whose main purpose was to sell more cigarettes. There are a significant number of players in the set that were retired or are represented on teams they weren't playing for at the time of distribution.
