Even as a die hard Ranger fan from back in the early '60's I was very saddened to hear this yesterday. I literally hated these Islander guys back in the day (Potvin, Bossy, Smith et. al.) but as years have passed I came to respect how really, really good they were. I'm sure I knew it even then, but just couldn't admit it.
As guys you used to watch play leave this existence seemingly every week it makes me wish there was a hockey equivalent of Ritter's "The Glory Of Their Times" to have on the reading table. Great card of a great player. |
