1954 Topps #94: Ernie Banks

Ernie Banks. Ernie "Mr. Cub" Banks. Shortstop and first baseman for the Chicago Cubs in 1953-1971. "Mr. Sunshine". In 1953, he was the first African American to play for the Chicago Cubs. 2,583 hits and 512 home runs over 19 MLB seasons. 14-time All-Star. 1958 and 1959 NL Most Valuable Player. 1960 Gold Glove. 1958 and 1960 NL Home Run leader. 1958 and 1959 NL RBI leader. Chicago Cubs #14 retired. 1977 inducted to the MLB Hall of Fame.
