A cool item in last night's Love of The Game auction. 1908 Red Sox. They didn't mention in the description but im pretty sure that's Tris Speaker in the back row left of Harry Lord and right of Doc Gessler. If so, it would be possibly the earliest major league photo of Speaker. Since Deacon Mcguire and Bob Unglaub both left the Sox mid season, I can deduce this is Spring Training. Speaker famously paid his own way to spring training and wasn't picked up by the Red Sox until September. I was the underbidder unfortunately. Probably a very good deal. What are your thoughts?
