When I went to my first baseball tryout freshman year of HS, they said "OK, all the outfielders over there, first basemen there, second basemen...and so on". I look around, see 20 outfielders, a half dozen at each spot across most of the infield spots, a lot of pitchers...and three third basemen. Thinking I'm pretty smart, I say "well, I guess I'm a third basemen". One of the other two third basemen: I got really good at keeping score AND splitting sunflower seed shells on the bench.
