I really think you can restrict people from joining or accessing the forum (until approved) when they join via Tapatalk.

Here is a screenshot I found of what the interface might look like where you can do this. It�s from 2018 but something like it surely exists still. You have to login to your forum on Tapatalk through a web browser, I believe, to access these settings.
