Have you ever examined these cards' base counterparts to see if, like Storm Davis, they might be found with remnants of the ® symbol showing?

Here's an example for anyone who hasn't seen one.
Besides the ones you have listed there's also

#20 Pedro Guerrero
#303 Mike Boddicker
#334 Todd Benzinger

I only checked one box so far but I chose one that I thought had the best chance of any of them having remnants of the registration symbol.

I have a case that I purchased unopened awhile back and over time I have opened five boxes from the case and all of the Storm Davis cards are the variation that has the remnants of the registration symbol. Every box had at least one and some had two Davis cards. I checked one of those boxes and none of the other 14 had remnants of the symbol.
