This is where it is worth noting that there were a number of Americans who chose to play in the CFL (Interprovincial Rugby Football Union before 1958) in the 1950s as - believe it or not - they were offered more money than in the NFL or AFL. This would suggest that just because they played in the CFL, doesn't mean they weren't talented enough for the American leagues. But for many of the players I guess we'll never know.
