Julie--I'm sure Kevin knows an albumen photo when he sees one. I think Kevin had a view that the items were not period and he just took the additional step to verify his view with an expert. Kevin has been collecting and dealing in 19th century material for a long time and in fact had one of the best Old Judge cabinet collections ever at one time. I would rank Kevin as one of the top five experts on N172s. Ron Oser made the most significant discovery ever of Kalamazoo Bats with almost all the extremely rare N.Y. Giant cards known today coming from this find. And no one has better instincts about cards, regardless of the period, than Bill. |
