Jon,
You mentioned "4 pages of previous posts". Are you aware that you can "fix" that? Click "User CP" in the tool bar. Click "Edit Options." Scroll down to "Thread Display Options" You can then adjust the "Number of Posts to Show Per Page." It adjusts up to 80. Mosts threads never get longer than that. It may take a few seconds longer to load a page, but it greatly reduces threads with multiple pages.
