I do strongly believe it's a Cubs Pennant (and the direct counterpart to the White Sox Version I posted above). Most of the Cubs Pennants from the teens were maroon/burgundy/deep red, for whatever reason. Check out those posted by Mike H and myself, as well as the Hunt/Mastro/Lelands/REA archives.
It's an extremely rare and desirable pennant, and I would bet that the number of surviving examples can be counted on the fingers of one hand. To call it one-of-a-kind would be a stretch, but it's not that far off. Wonderful pennant... if you ever think about selling/trading, please let me know, as it would be a wonderful companion to my White Sox counterpart. Conversely, if you are interested in my White Sox Pennant (to match yours) feel free to contact me. These two probably belong together.... thanks for posting it! |
