There are alot of factors that go into when to auction vs. when to BIN...I would almost recommend BIN-ing first and if no sale occurs, considering auction...Extremely rare or quirky type items (including I would imagine many pre-war issues) I would ithink would best be sold as a BIN...
Huge mixed vintage llots or very popular rookie cards and you could be safe and (even benefit) from the auction format...It amazes me how very seasoned eBay sellers don't understand which items should be sold BIN and which ones should be auctioned...
