Offhand, I'm not sure. My gut is saying that it could be a head shot taken earlier that was pulled out of the file to run with the hit streak story, but I don't know that for sure.
I did do a quick google image search and turned up this website: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/bas...ks/july61.html that uses the same article and credits the source as the National Baseball Library Hall of Fame Cooperstown, NY (though that probably just means that the photo they used came from the Hall's photo archives). If I find anything else, I'll let you know.
