Judson, you are right. The three poker chips are from the Brook Club, Arnold Rothstein's club. That's a great book, tremendous insight into what happened, much more than from anything else I ever read about 1919. What seems likely to me is that Mr. Rothstein didn't leave anything to chance, he had 2 separate fixes in on the World Series, each independent and unknown to the other. All he needed was for one to work. I think both worked to some extent.
In Mr. Pietrusza's book I think he has a photograph that shows a poker chip or two, just like these. And that's one fine Attell signature. I've never seen one of those. Impressive. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 06-05-2012 at 06:08 PM. |
