Hey Guys just a heads up be careful on the M. Brown endorsed check signatures, that were CUT from checks as what happened is when the checks first came out it was fairly easy to find a full check endorsed on the reverse

There were some of them that were signed by his wife who's signature looked nothing like his and which were basically worthless. What I've seen done with them is forgers use the OTHER side of the reverse of the check and mimic his signature then cut and discard the rest of the check. So make sure its signed on the ENDORSEMENT portion of the reverse of the check.

Jim, correct me if I am wrong, but these old checks did not have an endorsement line per se like todays modern checks (at least my Cobb, and Johnson checks don't). So the endorsement portion you are talking about is the reverse side behind the "Pay to the Order of" printed on the left, front of the check correct?

Thats correct , the endorsement portion of the reverse would be the part that if you were holding the check in front of you looking at the front your left thumb would be resting on the front of the check and your left fingers would be touching the ENDORSEMENT portion of the reverse of the check, the top left reverse of the check would be the area that should be signed.

This is a John McGraw cut from a check, and I have seen several like it in my autograph hunting. Apparently, after McGraw died, he continued to get fan mail, so his wife used to cut these signatures out of his returned checks and send them out to fans. I was happy to get one in an SGC slab.

This makes autographs of 231 different members of the HOF in my collection.

Thanks Kenny. You've got quite the Zach Wheat collection there (and some great pieces besides).
