According to Alan Rosen's autobiography covering many of his famous finds, TRUE MINT, Manny's son Miles called "Mr. Mint" Alan Rosen in 1989. He called Mr. Rosen about the idea of selling out their large stock of mint sports publications.
There were 50,000 yearbooks, primarily from 1962 - 1980, all teams. Mr. Rosen paid about $100,000. Alan, Joe Esposito, Alan's assistant Glenn Stuart, and six hired men spent 22 hours loading a truck and unloading it in a rented warehouse. The book was published in 1994, and Alan wrote he sold all those pubs--'cause they were MINT! I sure miss Alan Rosen's finds. His weekly SCD ads paved the way for sellers and finders to know whom to turn to if they had the good stuff to sell. Yeah, I know, I know. But look what gems he brought to the hobby! --Brian Powell |
