Signs
Bob,
Those signs are just amazing to me. Also, the frames really set them off nicely as well. Great display and thanks so much for sharing your collection with the group. |

Finally able to get out to a real flea market!
It's been a while but back in the hunt again! Feels great to be able to root out some new (vintage) items!
Picked up a nice team basketball photo with printed mount - 1957/58 Canadian Champs - Vancouver Eilers (12.5 x 10.5 including mount) and a unique 4.5 inch bass relief, metal, baseball "plaque" that the seller suggested was from Nazi Germany. Can anyone place this?

1946 vintage signed Ed Head no-hitter ticket
I was able to come up with an unexpected, really cool addition to my signed no-hit ticket collection tonight.
Thanks to net54's own, Bud Obermeyer, I was able to pick up a vintage fountain pen signed ticket to Ed Head's no-hitter game on April 23rd, 1946 at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. Thanks Bud! NOTE: I now have tickets to 202 different no-hitter games dating back to 1901 and 138 of them are signed by the pitcher that hurled the no-hitter. PLMK if you have any that you would like to sell. I'm always a buyer for vintage no-hit tickets... Here is Bud's account of how he came to own the no-hit stub, which comes with neat provenance: "Ed Head was a starting pitcher in the Dodgers organization and was in military service during WWII. He returned to the Dodgers for the 1946 season and started his first game on April 23rd at Ebbets Field vs the Boston Braves. Head pitched a no hitter that day. A few weeks later Head injured his shoulder and never appeared in the Major Leagues thereafter. This signed no-hit ticket stub was among the 200+ Brooklyn Dodgers memorabilia items that I (Bud- sic) purchased from the Henry "Henny" Vehling estate in 1991. Vehling was the owner of Henny's Tavern in Glendale, Queens from the 1930s to the 1960s and his tavern was frequented by many of the Brooklyn Dodgers players. Vehling was a major booster of the team and many personal photos of him with players and front office personnel were included in his estate." Last edited by Scott Garner; 05-19-2016 at 03:46 AM. |

Had a couple great additions to the collection this month. One of Early Wynn's game used baseballs, this one from 1959 over the yankees, making it an instant favorite.
Also added Pee Wee Reese's signed insurance form from when he joined the service in WWII. I'm amazed things like this survive. |

Picked up this pair of seats from Forbes Field. They saw a lot of history including the Babe's last homerun ever in a 3 homerun game! Most of Roberto Clemente's career and Mazeroski's walk off! Honus Wagner and the Pirates in the 1909 World Series!

I can't help but admire your ambition in this project. It's about love of the game. You, Sir, are the kind of collector I would want to see succeed in every way.
I will keep my eye out for older tickets that fill your needs. Keep posting (that goes for the Aaron collected too) thanks for sharing. |

1971 World Series Key Ring from Balfour... I've been looking for one of these for a long time. I now have the press pins, cufflinks, tie bar, and watch. The world series ring is out of my reach at this time. Does any know if Balfour made a money clip for the 1971 Pirates world series?

Great seats Randall. Do you have other stadium seats? How/where will you display them? I am always curious how folks display or use their stadium seats, as they are not the easiest things to place given their size.

When I owned a bigger home I was thinking of putting a big screen in the basement and building some risers for seating then using the ballpark seats for some of that. Never got around to it. Right now I have them in the house. One in the bedroom kind of as a night stand. The pair are in the hallway. The Yankee seat is in the living room and my phone sits on it. the Comiskey is in the dining room near the back door. I sit in it to put my shoes on before I leave the house. They can all be used as extra seating if you have a lot of people over LOL. I've also thought of string them side by side and having them on the porch. I have a roof over my porch so it wouldn't be too tough on them. I'm hoping to get most of the old ballparks at some point.

Would love to see a picture of all those items you mentioned above displayed together. Also, do you collect the O's versions as well to go along with the Pirates? Q: Did they make a salesman sample/s of the Pirates WS ring? That may be an alternative to purchasing a player/team rep version. I know I have a '70 O's SS ring so possibly they made them as well for the '71 Pirates. I'm unsure about the money clip... By the way, the key ring is very cool! |

Thanks Mark, I'll post them later. Other than the press pins I only have the Pirate versions of these items. I have seen salesman samples of the ring but even they seem too pricey.

Jay Bruce game used bat used during Jake Arrieta's no hitter on 4/21/2016. Jay used this bat for a strikeout in the 6th and a fly out in the 8th. I also believe he used it in the 2nd and drew a walk.

So, my mother brought a few things from her home to give to me and I need a little help.
First is a photo of a Cuban baseball team that includes my grandfather(paternal) We are not sure of the year it was taken as there are no notes on the back. MY Grandfather is in the middle row on the right end. Next is another Cuban babeball tem which has writing on the back stating it's from 1935. Next up is what appears to be a cut Burke photo signed by Walter Ockey. He played in 2gms in 1944. It was signed to my father likely in the 40s as my father did not collect autos until the late 80's, so wouldn't be "little". He died in 1971, but I am not sure ow difficult a sig he is. Lastly is a 1963-64 "announcement" of the passing if the Yankees. Never seen one before. Did a little searching on google, but found nothing.
