A rare back will greatly increase the value of the card.

By the way, I didn't see a scan of the Doyle. Is there one and I missed it?

Very interesting. Congrats. Would love to hear more about this find. How were they stored? How long do you think they were there? How is it they went unfound for so long? Who do you think they belonged to?

Do you have any experience with card collecting or this set? You seem to have some experience given the way you listed the cards, knew to scan the backs and fronts, and knew to highlight the green Cobb (in front of a T222 Fatima – is that a reprint or real?) and the Young. Best of Luck! Very cool find.

That all depends on if any have a blue Old Mill or green Sweet Caporal back.

I think Love For The Game Auctions specializes in major finds like this. You might contact them if you decide to sell.

Ok, it seems my last post has made everyone skeptical of whether or not these are real. Once I get home and provide more detail it will clear everything up. If I can do something to prove they are real I will. Thanks

Posters are talking like pics were posted, but I don't see any. Am I missing something?

Certainly a nice little find but nothing earth-shattering. No rarities or pristine HOFers. I don't know why everybody was so skeptical.

I think the skepticism was because they were found in the basement. Everyone knows that most legitimate finds are located on the ground level, not the basement or attic. Those two levels are usually where damaged reprints are found.

Brian

By the way, nice little discovery...all old cards are cool, especially ones that you didn't know existed.

Yeah but didn't he say that they were in those pages when he found them? Obviously, they were put in those pages somewhat recently. So the cards may have been in a basement for a short time. Furthermore, not every basement is a nightmare. Mine kinda is but some people have finished basements that aren't prone to flooding and such.

If he posted a bunch of fuzzy pictures of Drum backs or Honus Wagners or ridiculous "ghost images", I'd get the snarky responses to his posts. But his cards are, for the most part, heavily creased commons with a few poor condition HOFers, all with rather common backs.

Being on this board a long time gives one a fair amount of skepticism on finds like this. This one turned out good and I hope the OP starts collecting, actually.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the experts sat down and had a good look at the E98 Black Swamp find. I am sure a holy s**t was among the many comments made.
