June continues to be a really good one for me for pickups.
I just picked up this circa 1920's snapshot size photo of early no-hit pitcher Earl Hamilton that is signed both on the front as well as the back. Hamilton's signature is indeed scarce, but finding a signed photo is next to impossible... On August 30th, 1912 diminutive St. Louis Browns hurler Earl Hamilton became the 1st to ever throw a no-hitter with no strikeouts. The only two pitchers to ever accomplish this feat were "Toothpick" Sam Jones in 1955 and Ken Holtzman in 1971. Earl Hamilton no-hit the Ty Cobb led Detroit Tigers 5-1 at Detroit's inaugural season at Navin Field. Last edited by Scott Garner; 06-22-2017 at 06:22 PM. |
