The responses are not what I expected. I assumed more collectors on this forum bought higher priced cards.
My most so far is $3,050.00. The card I would pay the most for has never graded a 10 but if one ever hit it would blow away my most expensive purchase. |

Many of the highest spenders have little interest in others knowing how much they spent. I've never been anywhere near those numbers, but my most important criteria is whether I believe I could recoup the money if I need to sell the item. I try to buy items that I believe will maintain their value over time. |

We definitely have some heavy hitters on here. My high is $200 for a '58 Mantle.

Steve, yeah, as it turned out buying early Mantles in those days was a great move. I would think that across the grading spectrum the 51 and 52T have probably appreciated as much if not more than any other issues.

Only a few hundred bucks, I'm a minnow. I'd consider spending more purely as an investment like buying ETF's or stocks. What I buy I see in a different way, they're more or less cards I could have had as a kid. I find myself beginning to find some of the pre war cards interesting but I really don't need to start down that road. I think if I was to spend high dollar amounts, I'd probably shift to vintage memorabilia...but damn those Cracker Jack cards sure look nice.
