Will this cross to PSA?
I believe it will. Do you agree or not and why?

Nice card

Off-center left to right as well. Color looks a little faded, but that could be printing process, rather than fading. Back not miscut, well-centered?
8 or 8.5 is what I would expect.

I think trying to cross to a PSA 9 on a vintage card where one could always pick nits is dicey because of the discretion involved. I would bet against it.

Just a thought, since the purple sticker phenomenon is new, would that have any subtle influence (positive or negative) on a cross over attempt while in the slab?

While I completely agree with you Leon, I hate reading it, even if you're joking. I wonder if computerized grading will allow the "big submitter" to still get better grading than the average guy? Maybe there will be a giant "BIG SUBMITTER" button you can push on the grading machine that raises the grade a point.

Honestly
I think it depends on what the upper right looks like under magnification in person. Tough to tell from pic if slight rounding is from the very fine rough cur or the tiniest bit of wear. Honestly has a shot at crossing from what I can see in the picture.

crossover
My crossover rate from SGC to PSA (same grade) is 31%.
I think this one will be a winner.

PSA pop only shows 4 nines. Can't see them goosing up that number if the card has the "flaws" noted. Sweet card, but I'd guess an 8, tops.

So did you send it in still in the SGC holder or did you pop it out and submit it raw?

Congrats. I figured it would cross. I think what people saw as an upper right corner flaw was really an optical illusion because of the rough cut.

Purple Label crossover
Here it is. Who else loves the PSA superman logo? I think this is their best slab design/label combo yet.

Wow, congrats. I would not have guessed that PSA would cross it, especially if you submitted it in the old slab.

I especially would not have expected it with a min 9 requirement, since I thought the conventional wisdom was that it has to look very much better from the outside than the grade being requested (tough when that is already 9) in order for them to have the confidence to open it up...
I have submitted in a similar scenario and asked min 8.5 just to give that little extra breathing room and had it just come back 'min grade'. One difference is that my example was a very prominent HOFer---do we think they use a different standard, even if subconsciously (even though I know their written protocol claims everything is treated the same). |
