Love the story as I too have too many times lost out of lots I was interested in. Mostly because I go after things I know are likely to go out of my bidding zone. I don't make a great deal of money when I am working which I am not now.

So glad you were able to get them in the end. I do love those cards as well, but I think I only have one card from the set. I do bid on ones that are not the best looking but I still see the prices go too high for me to bid on or more than I feel they are worth. I do go after sets or near sets of cards, but sets like that I likely couldn't afford to go after. In those cases like your two cards, I just go after the HOFers in the sets. I will try to luck into them by keep trying to big on them as well as win the lottery so I don't have to worry as much about how much they cost.
