It would be cool to go to a Detroit library and look up 1913 Detroit Free Press publications (Sunday edition) on microfilm. Heck, maybe this stuff is all digital and online now? Greg and Marc, do you work for Universities and know how the average Joe can look into this sort of thing?
Still on eBay, and priced very reasonably...

This is definitely from the set, and would go very nicely with those ads, Erik

ps. I have no affiliation with the pennant or the seller. Just trying to add some value!

Here's another...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1913-D...EAAOSw-oRepJq7

Reversed color scheme, but priced quite a bit higher.

This Detroit version definitely surfaces more than the others. Was hoping a few other teams would eventually turn up after the sale of the complete A.L. Set. But it's looking like the winning bidder wanted to keep the set in tact, rather than piece it out.

Pretty strong provenance on the black one.

Interesting to note that only the latter variant bears the "Detroit Free Press" label on the reverse. I agree, however, that both are likely from the same promo set.

This inconsistency adds a minor wrinkle into things as the provenance isn't going to be quite 100% without that label. (Although I'll happily accept a "BROOKLYN" pennant without one!)

That eBay seller Vintagebaseballco has some great older Tigers pennants and memorabilia! Over the years I've purchased a few nice items off of him.

Agree... High quality stuff, and at least half a dozen examples I'd love to have.

But most of it looks to be at least 25% above market value (even to someone who consistently overpays like me )

Here’s one of his. Is that a double spine?

No, but it does look that way upon first glance. The inner stripe is painted on, and the outer spine is sewn on. This is a mid-size pennant.... really an odd size, as it's in-between a mini and a 3/4 sized pennant.

Thanks Mark. Very odd looking pennant which I had never seen before.

One of his pennants has this maker's tag. Kyle?
