Not only is there no record of him on any Shreveport Pirates roster that I can find on the internet, nothing comes up for anyone from that era named Harper other than George Harper (later, 1913 was his first professional year) and Taylor Harper (negro leagues ballplayer). So who is this fellow? Definitely a Shreveport uniform. Mis-named on the card, maybe?

Maybe John Hilding? He caught for them in 1908.

I don't know if it's him but there was an A. C. harper listed with Shreveport at a spring training in St. Louis in March 1910.

Here is another clip about this Harper fellow. As seen on the card he was a catcher. His nickname became "Badger" Harper because of a series of badger fights, not sure of his actual first name. Some probably called him "Goat" Harper as well. He was with the team at catcher behind Hinninger, but was let go in early May 1910. He wasn't with the team for a very long period of time. Trey and Patrick,
Very interesting article clips, thanks for sharing. How did you both go about finding these? Also, Trey, which paper is yours from? Cheers, Steve |

Don't know about Harper (yet), but the fellow referred to as "Dutch" Hinninger was Frank Joseph Hinninger - b. 10-17-1886 Cincinnati, OH; d. 10-28-1978 Clermont, OH; bur. Saint Mary Cemetery - Saint Bernard, OH. (not Henry Henninger, as listed in B-R.com)
