I just picked up this vintage signed Jim "Abba Dabba" Tobin card from net54 board member Jim Stinson.
Jim Tobin had an amazing 1944 season. He pitched two no-hit games. One was an official no-hitter, while the other was a 5-inning no-hit effort that was the 2nd game in a D/H that preceded lights in Boston. Tobin was also a prolific HR hitter for a pitcher, hitting 17 dingers in a 10-yr. career including hitting 3 HR's in a game (MLB record) in 1942 against the Chicago Cubs. Tobin's autograph is desirable and tough in my experience. It took me over a decade to find my first example for my advanced no-hit pitcher autograph collection. I'm a sucker for fountain pen autographs and this beautiful (circa late 1930's) example certainly fits the bill. I'm glad to own it.
