Josh—I really enjoyed taking part in the podcast so thank you and Andy for doing it. What could be better than spending a few hours talking about Old Judges and getting a chance to spend time with one of my favorite people, Joe Gonsowski.

Great episode. Very informative. I had no idea there was that many Old Judges.

Is it possible to know that a hypothetical unopened package contains a baseball card as opposed to a card of an actress or pugilist or someone/something else Old Judge included with their cigarettes in 1887-90?
Just in case I get an unopened pack figured I might want to know

Why isn't the Old Judge N172 broken up into sets for each year, since they are from different years and designs ? 1887 Set, 1888 Set, 1889 Set and 1890 Set ?
We don't group all the Topps, Goudey Sets etc into one set, each year is a separate set. I'm I missing something here.

I'd guess if the cards had numbers on the back and there were multiple cards with the same number, then it would make more sense to separate it

Another with 13 players who were with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the regular season, but never played a game. There's also one about 27 baseball families, as well as a day-by-day look at the worst team in Pittsburgh Pirates history. I really enjoyed listening to jay and joe talk about the set. Jay has been helping my build my N172 collection for years and it was good to actually see his face and not his thumb that’s in all the pictures with the cards.
