The fight was poorly attended and Lewiston, Maine was a last minute venue.

The Boston Garden was forced to pull out after the fight was originally postponed due to an Ali injury, and then was followed by several more complications I won't go into right now.

The idea at the time was they'd make their money from the Closed Circuit viewings.

In theory, there should have been lots of extra full tickets floating around, including whatever was left in the unsold piles of the ticket offices.

They also ended up giving away lots of the tickets in town, many of whom never even showed up to the fight.

This was probably a $1500 to $2000 ticket 15 to 20 years ago, but it only takes one find to saturate the boxing market.....even when it's Ali related.
