Some theorized that they went to the new cert number style so you could no longer figure out who submitted that card for grading, since most of the people determining trimmed cards were doing it by using the order number and then looking up how many in an order were trimmed and how those were sold out into the marketplace. If it wasn't for that reason, it just happened to be awfully convenient, that when a bright light was shone on their incompetence, they got less transparent. However, their DB still sucked the last couple of times I tried to use it. Very spotty.
