A different pickup for me but a meaningful one. Thank you to the Net54 members who were able to help me find this card.
I've done alot of research on Eddie Grant over the years and I'm sure many of you know his story. Attached is his T205 along with a 77th Division (Statue of Liberty Division) shoulder patch, to which he was assigned after becoming one of the first men to enlist in 1917, two years after his retirement from baseball. Grant made the ultimate sacrifice trying to rescue The Lost Battalion in the Argonne Forest. He was one of three former major leaguers to die in battle in WW1. His story is worth a read. I'll be visiting the Meuse-Argonne Cemetery in Romagne, France in June for a WW memorial tour, and plan on leaving these two on his headstone.
