Can't say that I am a postcard, basketball, nor a female athlete collector, but I couldn't resist this Gibson Art postcard in the recent Brockelman auction due to the disjointed nature of the right arm of this female basketball player. Her left arm looks a little off as well. And come to think of it, those are awfully tiny and narrow feet. Otherwise a decent early women's basketball depiction.

Accidentally double posted, so might as well put something in it. Mailman just dropped off this AB 460 Wheat. Also from the BST.

Thanks,
Bob

Some folks on here are addicted to Wagner, Ruth, Goudeys, etc. I am addicted to disjointed cards and posts.

My lots from the Potter & Potter auction featuring the Mark Rucker collection. I now have two of the three Bates College cdvs featured on page 56 of Mark's book Base Ball Cartes: The First Baseball Cards (the outer two).

Nice Rucker collection images Michael. I thought the auction brought very strong and a little surprising prices. You were lucky since it seemed one bidder was buying most of the 19th Century stuff.

I was bidding live on the auction interface (not in person) so I couldn't tell who won the other lots. I was the only bidder on the two cdvs I won but the cabinet was competitive. There were other nice cdvs and tintypes that went for more than I wanted to pay. Part of me is glad there is interest in this kind of stuff...but part of me doesn't want too much interest.

Some fun pickups from the last month. Good progress on my T207 set. And then some nice OJs (thanks Mike!), including some rare N167s!

Jeff,
They're from the 1948 - 1951 time frame and came in Kellogg's cereals like Pep and Raisin brand.

Recently grabbed this wonderful postcard of the Jersey City "Eastern League" Base Ball Grounds Jersey City, NJ postcard that is postmarked and dated 1912. The Jersey City team from the Eastern League in 1912 was the Skeeters. This is now a permanent resident in my Jersey City Skeeters prewar team collection and I couldn't be happier to have found it.

Went on a little D311 and 1909 Obak run in the recent Brockelman auction.

One could tell the groups of cards from these sets in the auction were from an old school long term collection. Super happy to pick up what I could.

Thank you to Scott and the consignor.

Thanks Daryl,
Both tough sets to find high grade cards, a lot of pop less than 10 highest graded in the auction, doesn't come around often.

Very nice, Phil. Those are some really great looking cards. I am not a collector of Obaks, so my question is: Why is the Hogan card rough compared to the others. Is he harder to find?

Thank you Al,
yes, there are 10 horizontal cards in the 1909 set and sell at a premium to the rest.

Here's the entire 1914 Lawrence Semon postcard set. Just 17 graded by SGC and PSA combined, here's 8 of them, including 1/1 of Mathewson, Mack and Burns. If anyone wants to buy my second McGraw, shoot me a PM.

Thank you, all! One interesting tidbit: the artist on the postcards was Larry Semon, who was a graphic artist and cartoonist for a NYC newspaper -- which is when he made these postcards. Later he became a huge movie comedy actor in silent films and directed a silent film version of the Wizard of Oz.
