I'm the same way with my Jackie Robinson collection though. There are numerous Jackie cards that I don't have, and don't intend to buy. Rather than seeking those out and buying every Jackie item I can find, I instead just buy duplicates of the ones I love most. To each their own though. There's no wrong way to collect!

I think the issue is that they are intended to be difficult to acquire. Most/all of the mainline cards are pretty easy to pick up. You might not easily find one that meets your standards of perfection around centering, but you can get a mainline card in about 10 seconds on eBay, assuming you’re willing to pay the asking price.

So to some extent, it’s intended to represent cards that you might mostly have to just dream about acquiring, simply because they are difficult to impossible to find. Slightly different twist than you had in mind with your list.
